I’m motivated by the potential sustainable design has to better individuals, communities, and our world: acting as a quiet, yet profound, agent of change. In the 21st century, design offers an exceptional opportunity to re-envision value chains, behaviors, & manufacturing processes to drive positive impact. My approach involves merging science, business & design to develop clean materials, systems & products that regenerate nature, nurture curiosity & optimize the long-term well-being of people & the planet.
According to the Ellen Macarthur Foundation,
“80% of a product's environmental impact is influenced by decisions made at the design stage.”
I’m currently defining new standards for Design for Circularity in the fashion and textiles industry, helping brands and mills transition to circular and renewable textile supply chains through the way we design and the materials we design with.
These ideas drive my practice:
Nature Co-Design
Integrating human ingenuity with the inherent intelligence of natural ecosystems
Transition Design
Design is vital in the transition towards sustainable and equitable futures
Design for Circularity
Considering the entire lifecycle of a product to prioritize the circular economy
